MATERIAL DESCRIPTIONS

The Automax finishes are
made from three main primary raw materials.

Real woods line: These are hand selected for their beauty and characteristics and sliced into a micro thin veneer which is then attached to 3M tape via an applicator to ensure maximum adhesion. These selected color veneers are then laser cut on one of the laser beds to the chosen pattern, such as a Toyota FJ Cruiser, Chevy Tahoe or VW Jetta, etc. Each pattern is cut using a precise CAD/CAM pattern to ensure an OEM look and fit for the finished product. After cutting, the surface is prepared and finished with a high luster crystal clear urethane pour that magnifies and brings out the fine beauty of the wood characteristics. It is then cured for 24 hours and inspected 3 times to ensure a perfect finish before packing and preparation for shipment.

The carbon fiber line: begins life as an actual fabric that is specially woven in real carbon or Kevlar. These are the same materials as used in bullet proof vests and on the space shuttle. These are then frozen into a sheet and followed by the same process as in the wood veneers to create our unique dash interior trim kit.

The synthetics line: is made up of actual prints that have taken the best attributes of the wood and then applied to a thin sheet of ABS material. Film and base are permanently bonded via a heat transfer process to create a sheet that can then be processed the same way as the other two finishes.

Installation

1. Check the part number and make sure you are installing the proper kit. Check the year, make and model of the car and also see that the trim is the correct type. 2. Check that your kit is complete by matching the parts against the schematic included in your dash kit. 3. Test place the pieces in their respective areas. This will help you locate the correct target area and align the piece properly, especially around switches and controls. Please make sure that when installing the kit it is at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit or more. (This is to ensure proper adhesion.) 4. Now follow the Installation steps below:

CLEANING

Prepare the target surface by cleaning with a soft micro rag or lint-free cleaning rag lightly saturated with alcohol. The surface must be completely grease-free. Grease or silicone preparations will not allow proper adhesion. The correct alcohol is labeled Isopropyl Alcohol 70%. Do not use alcohol labeled 90% nor the kind with medicinal additives, oils, fragrances, etc. If the vehicle has any protect ant on the surface, it first must be eliminated using a silicone remover. More than one application may be needed. After removing all traces of silicone, clean with Isopropyl Alcohol. Then proceed with installation.

PREPARATION

Apply adhesion promoter to the target area. Most modern automotive plastics need this step. Take a promoter swab and crush the glass ample inside to release the adhesion promoter. Let the liquid soak into the wick and apply to the target area. Stay inside the dimensions of the piece.
Some pieces may be briefly warmed to ease installation. CAUTION: OVERHEATING CAN CAUSE CRACKING. ALSO, DO NOT FLEX PIECE BACK AND FORTH--THIS WILL DAMAGE THE FINISH. Warm the red 3M liner on the underside of the piece first.

FITTING

Once you have already test-placed the pieces, peel back just enough of the liner to make a “tail” that you can grip from the other side. This will expose some of the double-face acrylic adhesive. Carefully place the trim piece on the dash and check alignment. The exposed adhesive will begin to grip. Do not press down firmly until you are sure of the alignment everywhere on the piece. Then strip off the remaining red liner from behind by pulling on the “tail.” Press firmly on the entire surface to ensure proper bonding.
Do all the pieces the same way. Some pieces will be easier if you make several “tails.”

FINAL INSPECTION

When you have finished with the installation, inspect to make sure all surfaces have adhered. Clean any finger marks with water and a soft cloth. Don’t spray the water. Instead, spray a small amount on a light cotton rag and rub the finger mark off using your index finger. Then polish to a shine.

*ONCE A PIECE IS APPLIED IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE! If removal is necessary, lift one corner slightly while heating. Then continue heating between the plastic surface and the adhesive while lifting slowly.
